Hey everyone— I will be teaching a poetry workshop for The Muse in spring 2012. Please check out the details and my course description below. If you have friends and/or students interested in taking the workshop, please have them look at the links on The Muse‘s pages.
A Little Fire, A Little Salt, A Little Need: Transformations in the Poem
(A Poetry Workshop led by Luisa A. Igloria for The Muse)
Heat yokes the chemistry of various ingredients and renders them into the food and drink that passes our lips to give us not only sustenance but also marks us indelibly. In the same way, the most memorable poems work to powerfully transform our deepest sensory experiences so that our hungers are both opened, and deeply fed. In this workshop we will focus on reading a selection of works that fulfill these criteria and use them as guides to generating new work. We will also examine techniques to help lift writing to a higher level of artistry and craft.
Sundays, 1-3:30 p.m./a 4 week session beginning April 15
Open to: poets with some writing and workshop experience
